Karsten Hertrich, was captivated by the mechanics of the nautical world during his studies of Mechanical Engineering at Blohm and Voss in Hamburg. There he was able to work with MAN engines up to 50.000 HP an the mega yachts like Lady Moura. He worked there for 6 years, after which he changed to Volvo Penta and Yanmar as head of their workshop.

Just after that he obtain his title of Master in Naval Mechanical Engineering, the oficial service station in Palma for MAN + ZF became very interesting to him, and this became the push to move to Mallorca. After the first 6 years working here as a subcontrator, he started his own business in 1998.

All his accumulated knowledge during more than 30 years is passed on to his mechanics so that they may continue on the same line. Even today after so many years with the yachts he continues to visit his clients and still enjoys getting his hands dirty in the engine room, following the values of the "old school" the bosses also work. All his efforts and dedication is always helped and supported by his wife in the office.

We strive to offer quality in place of quantity, if its to have a quick look in the engine room before the boat goes or change a piston during the high season, we will do a meticulos job that will comply with your expectations. This is our ambitious objective.

It is fundamental for us that both parties are satisfied and if any time they are not satisfied, something that rarely happens, we will llok for a solution. With us you have a total guarantee of satisfaction, this is for us a question of honor.

That way we maintain our clients and our business. For this reason we have never needed to invest money in publicity, our clients are our best publicity. For Yacht 'Up it has always been more important to invest in a better workshop, specialised tools, formation, etc. We are very proud of our facilities, it would be difficult to find anything similar.

A testimony to our efforts and thanks to a great number of regular clients is that we remain for the 8th consecutive year workshop for gearboxes for recreational boat with most success in Spain.
